Hello! It’s been a while but we’re back today with an incredible wedding by LIT Photography NI – I tried really hard but I just couldn’t get Andrea and Jonathan’s day down to any less images! So, can I suggest you go grab a cuppa and enjoy every one of the 75 that makes up this blogpost!
We’ve headed down to Dublin’s fair city to share the wedding of Andrea and Jonathan – on a side note, it’s clear Jonathan is the most charismatic groom we’ve ever shared! Just keep an eye out for his excellent facial expressions, especially when the surprise confetti canon went off. Thanks to North Coast based Lauren from LIT Photography NI for sharing this special day with us.
Couple: Andrea + Jonathan Carey
“We met through a mutual friend at a boxing class in 2012 where we then realised that we worked for the same company. We felt like we had known each other for years because it was just so easy when we first met. “
“I always warned Jonathan that I would be traumatised if he proposed to me in public! Thankfully he took this on-board and proposed to me in the comfort of our own home, a few hours before we were due to meet some friends and family for my birthday meal – which was just perfect as we got to celebrate and party the night away with our nearest and dearest.”
Wedding date: Friday 21st September 2018
Ceremony: Johns Lane Church, Dublin
Reception: Fallon & Byrne, Exchequer Street, Dublin
“The venue and guest enjoyment was top of our list during the planning! We both wanted a very relaxed, no fuss venue, but it had to be big enough to hold 120 guests. We couldn’t find anything like this in Northern Ireland, so I decided to look at venues in Dublin. The minute I came across Fallon & Byrne I knew it would be perfect. The venue was quirky, spacious and to our delight, served the most delicious food in Dublin! It was also right in the heart of Dublin City Centre, which would prove perfect for photo opportunities! We also wanted to put on a prosecco reception for our guests, before the dinner in F&B, so we booked out The Stag’s Head (which was just around the corner from F&B). It is the epitome of a typical Irish pub, filled with Irish charm and character and we just loved bringing our guests here for some prosecco and Guinness after the chapel. We wanted our guests to feel like they were on a little holiday in Dublin and it’s exactly how everyone felt in the end. It was so important to us that everyone had the most fun on the day!”
“We didn’t want too much fuss nor did we want to be taken away from the party to stand and have our photos captured for 1873593 hours! This was why our photographer and videographer were so fantastic. Both Lauren & Darragh let us walk through the streets of Dublin, laughing and having fun with our bridal party. We made them aware from the beginning that we hated being in front of the camera and didn’t want to spend too much time away from our guests.”
“The hardest part of planning was agreeing to have our wedding in Dublin (on a Friday). I wanted all our family and friends to be able to be there on our special day, but I knew booking our wedding in Dublin would mean that older relatives and friends (who are teachers) would not be able to make it. I just had to go for it in the end! Jonathan is the easiest going person I know, so any decisions I struggled with, I just placed them in his hands, he made the decision and just drew a line under it.”
There goes that confetti canon! 🙂
Our Budget & Suppliers
“We didn’t have a set budget in mind, we just knew that we didn’t want to spend a small fortune on what is essentially one day! We cut corners on things like wedding cars and expensive wedding cakes, by having our friends lend us their cars and creating a dessert table filled with our favourite treats like macaroons, donuts and Reese’s peanut butter cups.
Once I came across House of Elliot’s Wedding flowers, I wasn’t going to settle for anyone else! They are fantastic, and travelled from Lisburn to Dublin and back, decorating the chapel and venue and bringing me the bouquets. This really put me at ease – I didn’t have to worry about a thing!”
Our Wedding Look
“I was lucky enough that I knew the type of dress I wanted (I had a vision in my head of me in a relaxed dress, walking through the streets of Dublin carrying a pint of Guinness). I found the shopping experience very exhausting, because I knew what I wanted, and I was struggling to find it. I went to Petticoat Lane though and they stocked the dreamy designer Charlie Brear and I knew right away that I would be having one of her dresses! They were fabulous from start to finish, and very patient as I made my decision. The bridesmaid dresses were also purchased in Petticoat Lane. The designer was Motee Maids and they were the first dresses my bridesmaids tried on – instantly we knew they were the one! They were super classy as well as being very relaxed and comfortable! I got our flower girl dresses in River Island, which was s surprise as I didn’t know they did a bridal range – they have some great items though!
Sticking with the style of the wedding, we agreed on the boys wearing a tux – it was just classy and really went with the style of my dress.”
“Find a venue that is very hands on. I cannot recommend Fallon & Byrne enough, I didn’t have to stress about anything. They kept me calm and accommodated me in every way possible, I had placed all my trust in them! Also surround yourself with an amazing team on the day – my photographer and videographer were a match made in heaven and it honestly made things run more smoothly, it was like hanging out with friends when working with them. Also, you can’t make everyone happy! At the end of it all, it’s your wedding day to look back on so do everything and anything you want!”
