It’s a very special day – hello Monday and welcome back to The Promise. Today I am buzzing with excitement as we are sharing our lovely Blogging Bride, Jess’s summer wedding to Andrew. Their day was so pretty with pastel touches throughout and was gorgeously captured by Adam + Grace Photography. If you haven’t already go grab and cuppa and catch up with Jess’s story so far…
All caught up? Great, lets begin.
Jess and Andrew chose the breathtaking surroundings of the Lough Erne Resort for their Big Day.
“We both knew our venue would have to be beside Lough Erne so that narrowed it down! The Lough Erne Resort were so wonderfully accommodating and has amazing views so we picked it. After that, things like the photographer took priority with Adam and Grace being the perfect match! We had a two year engagement so we had a lot of time to think and plan. I loved everything pastel coloured with simple touches so I just selected things that reflected that style and touches that reminded us of our relationship. We chose a simple, pastel colour theme of pinks, peaches and whites. As we progressed through the wedding preparations, I loved the ideas of having mirrors instead of chalk boards for the welcome sign and we even got furniture from my house to set all the little details on,” explained Jess.
“I chose the Presea wedding gown by Pronovias from La Boda Bridal in Banbridge, who were totally amazing. They help really refine your decision, take time to understand your style and make you feel beautiful. I tried on A LOT of dresses before I found the one that I loved. I tried on every style, shape and colour to the point that I considered getting it made. Then I found my dream dress and loved it the second I tried it on,” said Jess.
“One individual part of our day was a video I put on before I came down the aisle. I took a picture of my wedding countdown chalkboard every day throughout our engagement and then put them all together to make a video for everyone to see – it was so special seeing it go to zero days and knowing this was the moment I had been waiting for,” Jess added.
After originally choosing Ghost dresses for her maids, a quick change had to happen after Jess’s sister announced she was pregnant a few months before the wedding. “I asked my sister and mother to pick out dresses from Ivory Bridal in Portstewart who were simply amazing at helping select the perfect new dresses for us and answering all my questions as I emailed from Edinburgh!” said Jess.
Their day as perfect as it was, had a few tiny hiccups!
“Hiccups are normal! The day before I accidentally dropped Andrew’s buttonhole on the floor of the florists workshop and we didn’t realise until she rang me on the morning of the wedding! Ringing Andrew on the morning of the wedding wasn’t this “Oh how exciting that we are getting married”, it was more of a rushed “You need to drive to Fintona, NOW!” said Jess. “I was also really early to get ready on the wedding day so we took pictures down at my family farm down the road. Everyone then headed on to the church but when I was getting into the car with my Dad we realised we had forgotten to let our dog out of the house so we drove home again to let the dog out, before heading to the church! Those are the moments which make the wedding day what it should be though!”
“Our wedding day was simply the best day of our lives from start to finish. I remember standing at the front of the church and seeing all my loving friends and family who had travelled and dressed up to make it our day and felt so overwhelmed by their kindness. Andrew and I spent four years living apart as I moved to Edinburgh so it was wonderful to finally come home to spend our lives together. You get to marry your best friend, chat to your loved ones, wear the most amazing dress with gorgeous flowers, pick all the style details and eat delicious food. What is not to love? It is an emotional blur of amazing moments!” said Jess.
For Jess: The highlight for me was driving into the church grounds with my Dad as everyone was standing outside chatting and the bagpipes were playing. I saw everyone I loved in front of me and heard bagpipes which reminded me of Edinburgh and how far Andrew and I have come since…I just remember thinking, this is the day we have dreamed of.
For Andrew: My brother made a video of all our childhood home videos which was amazing to see. And of course seeing Jess when she got to the top of the aisle was one of the best moments as she looked perfect!
