Today is Summer Solstice and hooray for some actual sunshine! We are so close to the end of school term and I know I’m ready to leave school runs and taxi mum duties behind for eight weeks.

Today we have the beautiful Christmas wedding of Brianna and James. Captured by my good pal, Marc Lawson their day was stylish and effortless, we’d expect nothing less from Brianna, owner of Pearl and Grace Boutique in Draperstown.

Have a fabulous weekend and enjoy this gorgeous winter inspiration.

Couple: Brianna + James McGillian

“We met through friends back in secondary school.”

The Proposal

“Not a particularly exciting story, we chose a ring together and James proposed on my birthday, a cold and windy but magical Tuesday evening in Portstewart!”

Ceremony: St John The Baptist, Granaghan

Reception: Silver Tassie Hotel, Letterkenny

Our Planning

“Christmas is our favourite time of year, so when we got engaged it just made sense we would get married then. We had a budget in mind and thankfully we never strayed too far away from this. It was important everyone had a great day! A lively entertainment lineup was key and James was most interested in selecting a venue based on the residence bar opening hours! We choose the Silver Tassie based on great reports, friendly customer service and the gorgeous wedding suite! It didn’t disappoint, I couldn’t recommend Ciaran, Georgina and the team enough. Georgina was my lifesaver she made everything very easy and was on hand for anything I needed even if it was a lipstick top-up!

I really enjoyed planning it all and I don’t think I found it difficult at all. Maybe it’s easy to say that now looking back!”

Our Style

“I mixed some vintage style pieces alongside the Christmas decor and it worked perfectly. My bridesmaids wore burgundy dresses. We used lovely rich and bold colours in the flowers to embrace the time of year.

My husband is a farmer so it’s difficult to get him out of the wellies at the best of times but I managed to talk him into a gorgeous tweed style from Dee Graham Tailor Made Suits. The fabrics and colours worked perfectly together and Dee designed a few different bowtie and tie combinations.”

My Dress

“As I own a clothing boutique I think the dress was always going to be one of the most important things for me. I visited many beautiful wedding dress shops but I (eventually) found the one in the White Gallery, Co. Down. Rachel looked after and I have to say she is beyond fabulous at her job. I wore the Guinardo gown by Yolan Cris. It was a long process with lots of drives and days out but I wouldn’t change it! I added an ostrich feather wrap from our boutique for a little bit of extra glam!”

Our Advice

“The best thing is to choose your suppliers carefully. Professionals are professionals for a reason, take their advice onboard and you shouldn’t have too many problems. If you select the supplier which suits your needs and personality it will make the process easier and much more enjoyable.”
