Are we all feeling relaxed after our extra day off?
If you’re feeling blue this morning, (rather than green!) we have just the thing – Carina and Johns wonderful wedding at Lough Erne Resort, Enniskillen.
From Carinas shoes to her dress, the bridesmaids feather stoles and their classy up-dos, to the utterly breathtaking portraits photographer Erica Irvine captured in the grounds, and everything in between – prepare to be blown away!
It’s a long one, full of inspiration so best grab yourself a cuppa and enjoy!
Carina and John have know each other for a long time through friends, but it was during a fancy dress party in 2009, when Carina, dressed as Coco the Clown and John, dressed as Vicky Pollard, got together!
Over three years later the couple were ready for the ultimate commitment and set about having Carinas engagement ring designed by Mercers in Enniskillen- Carina knew John had the ring, but she didn’t know when she’d be receiving it. It was to be on a trip to Dublin in May 2013 that she would receive it, as she explains;
“We went to Dublin with my best friend Samantha and Richard to celebrate their first wedding anniversary. When we reached the hotel the boys brought our bags to the room, while Samantha and I enjoyed a glass of wine in the bar. After some time we went up to the room to get ready and I found the room completely decorated in balloons, with rose petals all over the bed and my ring in the middle of it! I couldn’t believe it, as I never thought it would happen during that weekend, but it turns out Samantha was in on Johns secret!”
Carina and John didn’t have to go far to find their perfect location – in fact across the road from Carinas family home was the Lough Erne Resort and she couldn’t go past it, it was the venue of her dreams. Knowing she really wanted her longtime friend and photographer, Erica Irvine to capture her day, she worked around Erica’s return to work from maternity leave and chose February 21st, 2014 as the date.
The planning fell into place with Carina working through each aspect as it came along. In keeping with the muted tones in the Lough Erne she chose an ivory and gold colour palette to enhance the surroundings. The civil ceremony was performed by Eunice Ferguson. After 29 years of marrying people, Eunice had decided to retire, but not before she married Carina and John!
On the morning of her wedding Carina slipped in to her impressive Yolan Cris wedding gown;
“I headed to The White Gallery in Warrenpoint really looking for my bridesmaids dresses, as I though I’d already found my dream dress closer to home. In the end I didn’t get my bridesmaids gowns, but fell for the amazing Yolan Cris number instead!” Explains Carina.
En route to the ceremony the bridal party stopped off at the family business, The Jolly Sandwich in Enniskillen to greet their customers and have some photos taken, Carina even found some time to roll pastry!
“The day was perfect, very chilled out and relaxed. No hiccups at all! Both John and I are very laid back which was a great bonus, if only we could have asked the rain to stay away, but what could we do but get under an umbrella and pose! Having Sarah Deering sing me up the aisle to my handsome groom was a very special moment,” says Carina.
Carina’s advice for other couples: “Chill! Relax, enjoy every minute of the planning before hand and especially the special day. It goes in a blink!”
