Pleated Skirt Inspiration | The Promise NI

While we’ve been having some pretty fab sunshine of late, in Northern Ireland we’re all quite aware of our temperamental weather forecast – so here at The Promise HQ we’d like to introduce you to the ultimate SS16 transitional piece, perfect for any weather – The Pleated Skirt. Guaranteed to keep you flying high in the style stakes, but also so versatile that you can still rock this look even on a chillier day, the pleated skirt is a vital addition to your wardrobe.

As with a majority of our most popular trends – we have style queen Alexa Chung to thank for this one. Last year she wore an A-line suede M&S beauty, turning the mid-length skirt into a must-have item – while this year she’s stepped it up a notch and gone full on pretty in pleats with a metallic Gucci version. Oh to be rich and famous!!

If Alexa’s budget is making your eyes water – check out our top 6 favourite high street picks that won’t break the bank but will still have you feeling fabulous all Summer long!

Christmas decorations

Today is the day! There’s a big task taking shape at The Promise HQ; our decorations have been rescued from the attic, a few new items have been purchased, and today our tree will be up. I’ve always had visions of a classic and elegant, grown up tree but with three little people who love to leave their mark, our decorations are more fun and festive than graceful and glam. Here’s a few little trinkets that have caught our eyes this year…

Christmas decorations

Handmade stag decorations, £6.00 each, £15.00 for set of three, Jupiter Red.

Set of six mini characters, £2.00, Hema.

Pink globe decoration, £4.50, Oliver Bonas.

Guinness decoration, £28.00, Newbridge Silverware.

santa list for The Promise NI

Hey lovely Sunday, I hope you’re all taking it easy on this glorious winters day, we’re off for a big family roast with all the cousins – nothing like good food, laughs and chatter with your nearest and dearest to make Sunday special.

This past couple of weeks my kids have been writing and re-writing, editing and adding to their Santa letters – it’s very sweet but man, they have high expectations!! My four year old wants ‘all the critters’ (Sylvanian Families to you and me), and my almost nine year old thinks Santa is very wise and caring and will bring her an iPhone 6! Anyway, I haven’t a clue where they get it from but decided it was about time I compiled my list too – I have been a very good girl this year after all. So, here it is, a little bit random and a lot lovely.

Sunday Swoon winter coats

Hello November! Can you believe we’re this far through the year already – I can’t! We’ve been pretty lucky with the weather so far this cold season, we haven’t had too much just yet. In fact, I’d go as far to say that with a new winter coat in my wardrobe I’m itching to wear it, so come on frosty mornings. After sending my old favourite, four year old Zara boyfriend coat to coat heaven last winter I was in need of something to fill the gap. I absolutely love a good quality wool coat, and did go for one of these, but which one do you think? If I had the budget, I’d have one of each please!
