A tutu, huge ballon, stunning backdrop and little Apple Pip the puppy; todays E Shoot of Catherine and Steven is pretty special. Huge thanks to Kat Mervyn Photography for the adorable images.
Our love story:
“Steven and I met by pure chance in the airport in February 2011. I was travelling the red eye flight to London with work, which was delayed for a few hours. As I was tucking into my free breakfast, I looked up and saw a familiar face waving at me, it was Steven. He recognised me from grammar school as I was in his sisters year. He now says he was totally mortified as he doesn’t know why he came over – he didn’t know what really to say! Although we made some small talk and then continued on our separate journeys. A few days later I had a friend request on Facebook but I didn’t recognise the person in the photo – it was Steven wearing a wooly hat, so I ignored it! About a week later it clicked that it was the person from the airport, I accepted the friend request and then he asked me out for our first date- via Facebook again!”
The big question:
“Steven planned the proposal to coincide with one of my work trips, I was heading to Malmo in Sweden via Copenhagen. We decided to meet at Copenhagen airport on the Friday to have a long weekend seeing the sites of the city. The entire week before, whist I was away with work Steven had visited my Dads farm early every morning hoping to catch him out feeding the cattle, all so my mum wouldn’t find out! After two days of missing him, he eventually got him on the Wednesday morning. Funny enough my Dad didn’t recognise him at first because he was wearing a wooly hat again! But of course he said it was great news and wished Steven well with the proposal.
On the Friday Steven met me at the airport and we headed to the hotel, I was starving and wrecked from a busy week and just wanted to chill out but Steven had other ideas. He was adamant that we went to Tivoli Gardens to see their Christmas markets and lights. I just wanted to go to Wagamamas and eat!! After a walk around the gardens Steven suggested going for a beer (obviously Dutch courage for him!), followed by another walk! I was still moaning about begin hungary and suddenly Steven got down on one knee outside an ice cream van, I was shocked and shouted ‘Get up, you’re getting your knees wet from the snow!’ and then it hit me what was happening! He presented me with the most beautiful ring he had designed himself and of course then we went to Wagamamas! As soon as I sat down I started to cry as Steven told me the story of visiting my Dad, it was a very special proposal.”
Our E Shoot:
“Originally we didn’t intend on having an engagement shoot, but Kat included them in her wedding package so we decided to include our little puppy Apple Pip in them. I knew Kat through my best friend Linda, she is such a brilliant photographer and knew how to make us stay relaxed and really enjoy the shoot. We have ordered some prints to hang in our living room which will always remind us of the special time before our wedding.”
Our wedding plans:
“We’re getting married in October this year. We’re keeping things simple with a small family wedding and a big party that night. I’m carrying elements of the engagement shoot through to the wedding, such as the balloons and tutu. At the minute we are making our invites, so that’s lots of fun!”
We predict an equally beautiful wedding day ahead for these two! Thanks Catherine and Steven for sharing your special shoot with us!
