Good morning, I trust you all had an enjoyable weekend? It’s a busy time here at The Promise HQ as we prepare for our family holiday to Nice this weekend, oh we can’t wait! But for now we’ve local bridal loveliness to share. Today’s blush wedding from Erica Irvine Photography is the sheer epitome of romantic elegance – it’s oh so dreamy. Charlene and Kieran travelled from their new home in Perth, Australia to marry in Charlene’s home parish of Tempo. I’ve been really excited to share this beauty, enjoy and happy Monday!
Charlene and Kieran first met whilst they were out celebrating the end of the GCSE’s in Enniskillen.
“The first night we kissed Kieran told me later that my cousin had told him to come and chat me as he didn’t want anyone near me – maybe he shouldn’t have trusted him either! We kissed each other whenever we seen each other on nights out over the next couple of years until we started properly seeing each other mid-way through our first year in University, however it wasn’t until his return from a summer in Boston playing Gaelic in September 2006 that we made it official. The first night he returned, he was out with his friends and family, I remember looking across the bar and running up to him, he lifted me up in his arms and gave me an almighty hug, the rest is history. Kieran said in his speech that one of the best decisions he made was going to University, even though he decided it wasn’t for him, we may not have had the opportunity to get together properly!” said Charlene.
The couple moved to Perth together in March 2012 and less than a year later Kieran proposed,
“Kieran surprised me for my birthday with a meal at C Restaurant which is a revolving restaurant on the 33rd floor with a full 360degree view of the city – it really was wow! Everything was going great, then our dessert came out and mine had ‘will you marry me’ written on the plate, I was so shocked, I was shaking my head in disbelief, everyone was looking at me and they went quiet, they must have thought I was saying no!! He then asked me, we were both very emotional and of course I said yes! He then took me to a plush hotel after the meal and we went shopping the next afternoon which was my birthday for the ring! We went out the next night to celebrate with our friends; he had it planned so well!” explained Charlene.
The couple set their date for two years later at home in Fermanagh. It was during a trip home for Kieran’s sisters wedding that they viewed and fell in love with Farnham Estate in County Cavan.
“Everything else fell into place really well, all done online and with as little fuss as possible – I had a vision in my head that I stuck to. Everyone says it’s so stressful organising a wedding and said they wouldn’t want to do it from overseas, thankfully I was laid back and knew what I wanted from the get go. My sister also got married seven months before me so I choose a lot of the same suppliers as her and also used friends recommendations,” added Charlene.
On her wedding day, Charlene wore the best travelled bridal gown in history!
“I always knew I wanted something very soft and feminine, I didn’t think I would go for any sparkle however the delicate soft subtle intricate beadwork on this dress brought grace and glamour. I think the Jenny Packham collection is romantically gorgeous which will stand the test of time. I bought my dress in a boutique called ELLE in Perth. The dress really was love at first sight, I had two of my good friends Ciara and Sarah with me, who helped me make the decision and I knew I could trust their style advice. I never thought I would end up buying a British designed dress; it must be the best travelled wedding dress!” she said.
The couple chose a soft romantic theme which exuded elegance.
“I’m sure it was no surprise that I choose blush pink as my bridesmaid colour as I am quite girly. I also love flowers, they were a very important part of the wedding and I loved the trailing ribbons – Clare did an amazing job!” added Charlene.
“Our wedding day really was the best day of our lives to date, it was truly perfect – we absolutely loved and enjoyed every minute, we took everything in and both danced the night away, I could barely walk for a week after, my toes where numb! From start to finish I wouldn’t change a thing, it was amazing! I am so thankful to everyone who made it such a fabulous day, our families, friends and suppliers,” said Charlene.
Charlene’s advice for other brides
I think you should stick with your own personal style and you won’t go far wrong. Often people try to be different or go with the trends, I think a bride should be themselves and as timeless as possible.
