Good morning lovely brides-to-be! So, did you go crazy with your credit cards this past weekend?! Our tree may be up, but that certainly doesn’t mean I’m sorted in the gifts department. No matter how much I try, I am always a latecomer to the gift buying party!
Anyway, when today’s wedding hit my inbox I did a little happy dance around my office! It’s at times like this that I miss having a group of girls (workmates, but really just great mates) to share such beautiful wedding joy, and today I am so excited to share the stunning celebration of Enya and Brendan with photography from one of my favs, Gather and Tides.
Enya, an interior designer from Moneymore first met Brendan through a mutual friend and were married this past August with a romantic rose gold scheme at Lusty Beg Island. The rose gold theme stemmed from Enya’s gorgeous engagement ring; “Brendan proposed during an amazing weekend at the Farnham Estate Cavan, to this day he tells everyone I had it planned as I had a cheeky bottle of Prosecco chilling in the fridge whilst he proposed! Needless to say I didn’t have a clue and with tears streaming down my face, five minutes later I managed a YES!! The phone call to my mother resulted in hysterics in the middle of Boots, and even better, my Daddy told Brendan to catch himself on and go and enjoy his weekend! I don’t think Daddy thought he would ever get rid of me, well he didn’t really – we moved just across the road!” explained Enya.
Being an interior designer Enya had far too many ideas and admits she probably made the planning harder than it should have been! “Having great grounded husband-to-be soon put my ideas into two types – unrealistic and do-able. A lot of long crafting hours, right up to the night before the wedding all paid off and we couldn’t have been happier. And after three venues we quickly decided on the beautiful venue – what wasn’t to love about Lusty!!” added Enya.
After falling in love with her engagement ring, Enya knew straight away this was going to be the theme for her day, right down to the candelabras which took three different brands of spray paint to get the perfect shade! She was so sure that ten days after the proposal she had purchased her bridesmaid rose gold sequin dresses by Jenny Packham from Debenhams! The hunt for her own gown was a little harder; “After numerous appointments the length and breadth of the country, my sister quickly informed me that this would be the last appointment she was attending – so pick something!! Needless to say that didn’t happen and it resulted in a spontaneous Thursday night trip in October with my mum to Verona Bridal in Magherafelt. I picked my dress and we managed to keep what I had chosen a secret for six weeks, then mum let it slip!” said Enya.
Despite the week of torrential rain prior to the wedding when Enya opened the curtains on her wedding day there wasn’t a cloud in the sky!
“Our day was fabulous and our bridal party were absolute troopers! The dance floor was never empty and the poor staff of Lusty Beg had to switch the lights out on us to get us to vacate the premises! Brendan and his grooms party were very smart in their navy suits with blue shirts and bow ties and my dad thought he looked the business!” said Enya.
Take five minutes as a couple, step outside your room and look in on all your guests, it’s the most amazing feeling looking at everyone there celebrating you and your husband!!
