Hello Monday, we’ve a great couple to start our busy week; Hollie and Conall’s shabby chic marquee wedding at Drenagh House in Limavady was every inch a beauty. With photography by Lauren Rutherford, we’re kicking off this glorious day with their wedding film by PigMint Film, Coleraine.
“Conall and I first met in 2003 during a band night in Ballycastle. He was the frontman of a punk band called the Mugshots, I just happened to stop and watch! Ten years on Conall proposed on Ballycastle beach. We had went for a walk on the beach, it’s one of my favourite spots, and as I looked out to sea he got down on one knee, called my name and when I turned around he asked me to be his wife…my first response of ‘are you serious?’ wasn’t the response he’d hoped for, but after confirming he was I said yes!” explained Hollie.
Not a couple to sit on their hands, a week after getting engaged Hollie had her bridesmaids dresses chosen!
“Quickly describes our planning process! We knew we didn’t want to wait for a huge amount of time before getting married so we focused heavily on venues as we knew summer dates would be scarce, and booked the vast majority of the other wedding suppliers as soon as we had a confirmed date. It quickly became clear that we were planning a shabby chic style day, with more emphasis on the chic!” added Hollie.
Hollie’s wedding gown turned out to be everything she thought she didn’t want, strapless and with lots of detail.
“I went to a few different wedding dress shops and tried on any and every style I could, to get an idea of what I wanted. I had narrowed my shortlist to two dresses – one Amanda Wakeley dress and a Ronald Joyce dress. I had one final appointment at Bride at Logans in Cloughmills which I went to thinking I wouldn’t find anything I’d like more than the two dresses in my shortlist and came out having bought my dress – another Ronald Joyce dress. Ironically it was everything I didn’t want!” said Hollie.
Hollie and Conalls day was perfect, but as with all weddings a few behind the scenes mishaps occurred!
“In all the excitement my Mum forgot both her overnight bag and our table favours so we came home to 120 macaroons. Our band got stuck in a tailback so we had a bit of a panic they weren’t going to make it, and my sister and chief bridesmaid danced like no one was watching and as a result suffered some soft tissue damage! But there were no major disasters and they don’t stand out as the memories of our day! My best memory was seeing all of our family and friends and sharing the day with them. Also the car journey between the ceremony and reception with Conall was lovely, as we hadn’t spent any time with each other since the day before, which was pretty manic!”
