Another beautiful Monday – hello! We’ve a pretty packed week for you all and this morning we’re kicking it off with rugby loving couple, Joanne and James. With a month until their wedding in Riverdale Barn we’re loving their natural engagement shoot in Lady Dixon Park by Fraser Stewart Photography.

Our love story:

“We met in Castlewellan Castle in August 2011. We were both attending a weekend for young adults in the Presbyterian Church. We had chatted during the weekend and both ended up watching the Rugby World Cup match that was on at the time. We realised that we had a love of rugby as well as our faith in common. Playing it cool James didn’t ask me out until the following week. We met for coffee on the Saturday afternoon. Coffee turned into dinner and spending the rest of the evening together. James travelled to me in L’derry on the 20th September 2011 to watch the Ireland v Australia match and the rest is history – it’s amazing what the madness of an Irish win can do!”

 The big question:

“We went to Lake Garda in Italy in June 2013 for a week’s holiday. Nearing the end of the week James suggested we go for a walk around the lake one evening after dinner. We ended up at a little secluded inlet on the lake that we had been to earlier in the week. Of course, this time there were other people there so James had to wait for them to leave. Once they did he got down on one knee and pulled out a postcard showing all the places we had been that week. On the back of the postcard he had written ‘Will you marry me?’ Of course the answer was YES! Although it appeared spontaneous it had been carefully planned by James. He had driven the three hour round trip to my parent’s house the week before the holiday to get dad’s permission. He had also booked an appointment with the jewellers for the day after we got back so he must have been pretty confident of a yes!”

Our E shoot:

“We picked Fraser Stewart as our photographer when we saw how natural his work is. He seemed to get really relaxed shots of people enjoying themselves. When we met him he was laid back but also seemed to really care about getting the best shots. We had an engagement shoot as we wanted a chance to get used to being photographed and spend a bit more time with Fraser to make us as relaxed a possible for the big day. We went to Lady Dixon Park as there is plenty of colour and interesting nooks and crannies. It was a good laugh and we certainly got to see how dedicated Fraser is in the pursuit of the perfect background for a photo.”

Our wedding plans:

“The wedding is less than a month away now. It will be on the date of our three year anniversary (or three years since Ireland beat Australia in the Rugby World Cup depending on which one of us you ask!). We are having the reception in Riverdale Barn and we just know Fraser will get beautiful shots. The planning process has been made a lot easier by supportive family and friends. We have tried to do things in little sections and have deadlines to make decisions. It has been enjoyable but we are looking forward to being married now!”
