Ooh, there are lots of awesome details in today’s wedding from Paula Gillespie Photography. From the beautiful abundant floral bouquets to the sweet stationery suite and dainty wedding favours, and of course, bride Linda-Jane’s terrific shoes, it’s got plenty to love.
Linda-Jane and Sean first met in November 2005 when they were both living on campus during their first year at Jordanstown.
“Nine months after starting our relationship I went on a year long placement to New York. We managed a long distance relationship so that was a pretty good sign that we were going to be together for life,” said Linda-Jane.
The couple, who are both from County L’derry moved together to Perth in Australia when they lived for five years.
“Sean proposed on New Year’s Eve 2012. We were home from Australia for Christmas and it was great to be around all our family and friends. On New Years Eve Sean tried to get me to go to Benone beach in the afternoon for a walk (that was plan A), but on a cold winter’s day in December I was having none of it! We were going to a fancy dress party that night at our friends houses and the theme was famous couples. We decided we would dress up as Sandy and Danny from Grease. So off we went to the party and he had to come up with plan B. As the clock struck midnight we were all wishing each other happy new year. Sean asked everyone to be quiet and I thought he was going to say how great it was to be with our friends on New Years but instead he got down on one knee with a beautiful ring! I couldn’t get over it and it was lovely to have our close friends there with us,” explained Linda-Jane.
Before they headed back to Perth, Linda-Jane visited the An Grianan Hotel in Donegal and immediately loved the venue. It was the first and last venue they looked at and quickly snapped up the date for Easter Tuesday 2015 and happily headed back to Australia to plan the rest of their day.
“We didn’t really have a theme in mind in the beginning but as we started pulling together the finer details a vintage feel emerged. I wanted something a little bit different so we got a VW Beetle and Camper for our bridal cars and a vintage bike for outside the chapel. We had our flowers in rustic style crates outside the chapel, I think our flowers really set everything off in the end, I loved them,” added Linda-Jane.
“The highlight for us was walking into the hotel as Mr and Mrs, all our guests were waiting on us and we had a brilliant wee traditional Irish band playing. The atmosphere was great and everyone was having a good time. We laughed from start to finish. We went up to Grianan Fort after dinner for some photo’s when the sun was going down but unfortunately the gates were closed. Paula our photographer asked us if we would be happy to climb over a fence to get into a field, as the scenery was too good to miss. So next thing I had a pair of floral wellies on and was climbing a fence in my dress. I’m so glad that we did because the photos were amazing!” said Linda-Jane.
I would say don’t shop around too much as it can cause more confusion. We trusted our gut with a lot of things and everything went great on the day. Also, someone told us from the minute you put on your wedding shoes just relax and enjoy the day because there is no more planning to do. It was great advice!
