Good morning you lovely lot! I hope your Thursday is off to a good start? I’m rejoicing that it’s very nearly the weekend; this weekend I plan to do very little! It’s the last one between now and that time of the year that we haven’t got plans. So I am aiming for major comfort and relaxation come 5pm tomorrow! Back to today and we are sharing the outdoor hilltop engagement session of Lisa and Emmett, by the incredibly talented Catriona at Divine Photography. I love how the couple have dressed to blend with the rustic, natural environment – nice touch!
Our love story
Emmett and I met on a night out in Derry and then we had our first date in Zen Belfast and ended up in the Errigle bar.
We went away to Killybegs for a few days during the summer and it was there that we talked about getting married. We both knew we didn’t want to wait too long, so we decided on a date there and then and set about planning our big day. We decided we would keep our plans to ourselves for a few months until we had everything organised.
We had planned a weekend in Belfast at the Christmas markets and it was on that morning before we left that Emmett surprised me with a ring and asked me would I marry him, it was subtle and intimate, and just the way I wanted it. We spent the following night in the Merchant Hotel in the roof top hot tub which was an experience in the middle of December!
Our engagement shoot
We had an engagement photoshoot as Catriona suggested it would be good to spend a little time getting to know her. It was also lovely to have some professional photos that weren’t wedding photos. We chose Lough Fea as it’s a beautiful setting and close to where we are getting married, and the autumn colours were just perfect.
I would highly recommend Divine Photography to any couple. Catriona made us feel so chilled out and relaxed and she had great patience when we decided to bring our dog along to the photo shoot! It really helped to relieve any worries about the photos on the wedding day, as now we know how Catriona works – she is very gentle and calm.
We got married last week on 10th October. We have enjoyed all the planning together, there were times that were stressful but the last few months have been really enjoyable. All the planning was worth it, our day was amazing and friends and family have been so kind and thoughtful.
