What a gorgeous wedding we have for you today – perfect eye candy for a Tuesday morning!
Our bride, Cynthia chose a sophisticated Romona Keveza gown with silver metal belt which worked beautifully in her modern and elegant styled wedding to Neil. The couple tied the knot this past June and partied in the fabulous surroundings of Farnham Estate, County Cavan. Photography on the day was by one of our favourite girls, Erica Irvine Photography.
Cynthia and Neil were set up through mutual friends and after a quick add on Facebook and a Costa coffee, they were both smitten. Early on in their relationship Cynthia headed off on a two month trip around Australia. The couple kept in touch everyday and Neil collected Cynthia from the airport on her arrival home and took her to Galgorm Resort for a weekend break.
“In December 2014 Neil brought me back to Galgorm for our one year anniversary. I thought it was strange that Neil had paid extra for a suite but it turns out the Galgorm had upgraded us when Neil said he was going to propose. I wasn’t expecting it at all – after breakfast Neil suggested we go for a walk along the river, he gave me my Christmas card which was for a fiancé and next thing I knew, he was down on one knee. Then we had a day of pampering, it was lovely!” explained Cynthia.
After looking at a few venues the couple chose Farnham Estate and settled on their date, 18 months away. “We didn’t set a formal budget, we talked about each item and whether it was essential or desirable and then decided on how much we were willing to pay for it. I am a qualified accountant so I naturally started a spreadsheet to start budgeting…it is awful seeing how much it’s all costing but it was useful for knowing what deposits had been paid and when money was due,” added Cynthia.
The couple wanted their Big Day to be modern and elegant, as vintage is just not their style. After choosing her Romona Keveza gown at Browns Brides in London the rest of the day was styled around it. “My dress had a silver metal belt so I choose silver for the bridesmaids. I wanted everything else to be very simple, and I chose white orchid bouquets and white flowers for the decor because I thought they would be elegant,” said Cynthia.
“Everything went really well on the day, we were very lucky!” added Cynthia. “We had an unexpected 6ft teddy bear appear during the Best Mans speech – that was memorable!
We chose to travel in a Jaguar XJ from Champagne Moments, it was perfect for our modern theme, whilst our stunning wedding cake by Lough Erne Cakes looked incredible in silver and white and tasted absolutely delicious, too.
Neil’s parents organised our honeymoon as a wedding gift. They planned a once in a lifetime trip to Tanzania! We can’t thank them enough for it. We spent the first five days on safari in the Serengeti and spent a week at a beautiful hotel in Zanzibar. I would thoroughly recommend going on safari for your honeymoon, our safari was with Maasai Wanderings and they were brilliant, it was something different and was a great experience! The relaxing week by a pool in Zanzibar was the perfect way to chill after all the wedding hype and the safari.”
