Good morning! Today I’m feeling all giddy! There is an imminent arrival due any day now in my family and I am so excited! My little brother is due to become a dad and I am one heck of an excited auntie-to-be! Yes, it’s all go here at The Promise HQ and I’ve got lots of love to share. Our couple this morning are Natalie and Jamie; after dating for over four years it was during a trip to New York that Jamie popped the question. Their gorgeous day and all the sunny, happy details were captured by Esther Irvine Photography. Happy Tuesday everyone, to quote from one of my favourite movies, ‘love, actually is all around!’
“ The most important thing for us was actually the marriage itself and what being married meant; that we were promising to spend the rest of our lives together and celebrating that and the vows we made. Don’t get me wrong we were always about having a really fun party but I was never some one who had every detail of their wedding planned from a young age,” said Natalie.
From the moment Natalie and Jamie became engaged they knew they wanted to get married as soon as they comfortably could. Preferring a summer wedding they revisited Riddel Hall in Stranmillis, took their free date the following June and soon had five months to plan their day!
“After booking Riddel Hall everything else fell into place from there. We have lots of very talented friends and got as many of them involved as we could in the process, from the invites to photography, music to the wedding cake, everything was given a personal touch with the help of our fantastic friends!” added Natalie.
“We didn’t really have a distinctive theme, apart from the pastel yellow shades from the bridesmaids dresses that transferred to the sunshine yellow ombre wedding cake and lots of other details. We just wanted it to give people an insight into our personalities and us as a couple with as many personal touches as possible,” said Natalie.
“One of my best friends flew home from South Africa for the wedding but her flight got cancelled and she only arrived in time to meet us after the service. She’d been very convincing in her messages saying how gutted she was to be missing the day so it was the best surprise ever and the fact that it was captured on camera makes it a moment we will literally never forget!” added Natalie.
“Can the whole day be a highlight?! Mine was either the speeches that included a hilarious rap by my bridesmaids and best friends, the incredible four tiered yellow ombre masterpiece cake, handmade by one of my best friends, Judith or dancing the night away in the reception with a lot of good friends. Jamie’s highlight was our signature Bushmill’s honey whiskey cocktail we borrowed from the team at Bushmills Live, which went down a storm and also looking out from the top table at all our family and close friends during the meal and lastly the speeches, especially by his two best men,” said Natalie.
Advice for engaged couples
Don’t take it too seriously – on the day you won’t remember or care about the majority of things that consume your time on the run up to the wedding and you will have the best day regardless. It is all about the two of you and celebrating the beginning of your life together and as long as you don’t lose sight of that you will be grand!
