Good morning – happy half term and Halloween! Okay, unless you have school kids it’s probably another normal Monday for you, but at Promise HQ we’re celebrating half a term at school!
On Saturday I headed to something very exciting, flower school at Victoriana Floral’s amazing barn just outside Larne. Kim, the very talented floral designer from Whitehead based Victoriana Floral, invited a group of bloggers down to her barn to trial her new flower school. It was so much fun and I got to meet lots of lovely ladies, and of course make my very own autumn door wreath and floral jewellery. I am delighted with my creations, you can see my efforts over on Instagram and I’ll be posting all about it later this week.
So today we’re sharing the prettiest wedding from my friends on the North Coast, Gather and Tides. This is a really long post for the simple reason that I can’t put any less images in – honestly I’ve tried to remove some, but the struggle is too much! I’m guessing you won’t mind, so go grab a cuppa and get stuck in.
Our bride, Rebecca has pretty perfect taste in dresses, I adore her off the shoulder lace beauty, and her choice of hi-low maids dresses – perfection for a Monday morning!
Rebecca and Benjamin have known each other since they were children through their church.
“We went to the same school and started going out when I was 15 and Benjamin was 16 after getting to know each other very well on the school bus! We knew very quickly that we have something very special and never had any intention of it not being forever!” explained Rebecca. “Following school I went to Dundee University and Benjamin went to Queens University Belfast so we had a long distance relationship for three and a half years until Benjamin graduated and got a job in Dundee. Very soon after this we went skiing for the day at Glenshee in Scotland (skiing is our favourite), and towards the end of the day he took me off piste, got down on his knee in the snow and asked me to marry him! My hand was so cold but I didn’t want to put my gloves back on again!”
Rebecca’s off the shoulder lace gown was elegant and modern, and the champagne undertone suited the colour scheme of their stylish traditional day perfectly.
“I am very indecisive and worried that I would change my mind at the last minute about my wedding dress. Ivory and Pearl in Comber was shop number eight that we looked in, and it sounds so cheesy but as soon as I tried on my Anna Maier Couture dress I knew it was the one I had been looking for! I just felt that it suited me perfectly and I never wanted to take it off. I adored the champagne undertone and the buttons that went the whole way to the end of the train. I never ever had a second thought about my dress!” she said.
“The Carriage Rooms at Montalto stood out to us far beyond any other venue, and we didn’t really consider anywhere else! It was amazing to find such a perfect venue just down the road from my house. To be honest I did most of the wedding planning with my mum, and some of the most special moments I have ever shared with her were during the wedding planning process. Benjamin and I were engaged for a year and a half so we were very organised and did lots of things far in advance. Benjamin’s job was to write his speech and choose the suits!” recalled Rebecca.
“I was adamant that I wasn’t going to be late to the ceremony however in the end I was 20 minutes late as it took so long to tape my dress in place!” said Rebecca.
– Dreamiest wedding photo ever?!-
“Try not to stress out about the small details as on the day you and everybody else won’t even notice! The most important thing on the day is that you enjoy yourselves!”
