Morning! I hope everyone had a restful weekend? I’ve come over a little giddy schoolgirl this morning because I’m sharing sheer beauty from Paula O’Hara. Paula’s work speaks for itself, and the person behind the lens is just as calming and beautiful, a real gem.
After marrying last May in Derry, Roisin (who looks just like Paula herself!) and her husband Neal decided to go for a post wedding shoot at Murlough bay on a stormy January day. See, wedding photography shouldn’t just be reserved for the wedding day! What about a first anniversary shoot, you could wear your dress again!
Why did you decide on a post wedding shoot?
“We love photography and having seen other post wedding shoots and especially those that Paula had done we knew it was something we would love to do. On the wedding day there is so much going on and it can be a bit hectic. Having a post wedding shoot allowed us to choose an epic location and, as a couple, to have some time together to have another experience and capture photos that we wouldn’t have got on our actual wedding day (e.g. on top of sand dunes or at the edge of the sea). Its a more carefree and relaxed session and we could just have fun whilst Paula captured some truly beautiful photos. It was also a chance for me to put on my dress again and what girl doesn’t want to do that!”
Paula’s photography is incredible, did you enjoy the experience?
“It was absolutely fantastic. We had a ball! I have always admired Paula’s work and admit to stalking her blog and Facebook so it was a real honour to have her capture the photos for us. She was so lovely and put us completely at ease. On the run up to our shoot she had lots of suggestions and although I was very apprehensive Paula always had reassuring words. Paula’s style of shooting was also really great – she let us do our own thing and directed us only as we needed it. It never felt forced or difficult. The day itself was absolutely freezing and although it looks calm in some of the photos it was blowing a gale at times (hence the hair lol!) and to be honest this actually added to it and made it more memorable!”
Would you advise our readers on a post wedding shoot?
“Yes, go for it! It allows you to have photographs taken that you wouldn’t otherwise have a chance to get. Go with the flow and don’t worry about things like the weather etc. Enjoy it and have fun! Paula is really super at what she does – there isn’t a kinder, lovelier photographer to work with and she always gets gorgeous shots. We couldn’t recommend her highly enough.”
