Hey Monday! Well, I have just the most beautiful story to share with you all today. It goes something like this – Boston girl meets Northern Irish boy, in Australia. They fall in love, after six perfect months they have to move back home to their families and soon realise they can’t live without each other. He heads to Boston, they fall in love some more, get engaged and head back to Ireland to marry.
“Gareth and I met in Melbourne on my first day there. I had stepped off the plane from Boston and decided to go for a walk to find the school I would be studying at with my friend. We were walking around the city a little lost when a group of men standing outside a bar asked us if we were lost. When they heard our accents they asked us into the bar for a drink, so in we went! At the end of the bar one of the guys was staring at me. We locked eyes, he asked if he could buy me a drink and soon he had asked me out on a proper first date! We went to the rooftop cinema in the city and then on to a bar, where we talked for hours.”
Three years later to the day they had first met in Australia, Gareth proposed.
“It was the day after Valentines, we were back in Boston. Gareth took me out to dinner and was acting strangely, he needed to use the bathroom a lot! He finally told me that he was not feeling well and it was time to leave. We headed out into the cold hand and hand and then he pulled me into the middle of the old cobblestone road. Gareth gave me a picture of us and told me to turn it over. When I turned it over it read ‘Forever?’ I was in shock and looked up to Gareth on his knee and a beautiful ring in his hand.”
Rory immediately knew she wanted to feel like a princess on her wedding day but never imagined she would end up getting married in a castle in another country!
“Planning our wedding in Castle Leslie from Boston was hard. If it wasn’t for our wedding planner and the wedding co-ordinator at the Castle it would have been so much harder. I wanted a romantic yet rustic theme although I didn’t want it to be extremely rustic. I thought it should be a sort of simple elegance due to the setting.”
Rory found her perfect wedding dress in the world famous, Kleinfleds, the bridal boutique where Say Yes To The Dress is filmed. After falling in love with the fairytale ballgown she then had to work out how to get it to Ireland! Shipping from the States was a fortune and it was too large to fit in the overhead lockers, but with the help of Gareth’s pilot friend, the amazing gown travelled First Class direct from Boston to Dublin!
“The day was perfect but like everyone says it went by to fast! I got a lot of advice from people to just relax and enjoy every little moment because it is so easy to get caught up. There is nothing to be nervous about. If something does not look how you wanted, no on will notice, only you! Just have fun and remember you are marrying the love of your life. We wanted the reception room to represent both Gareth and I so we had lots of special touches. I had a black and white dance floor and different shades of whites and pinks in my flowers. I had some of my favourite quotes around the room along with pictures of all of our grandparents and parents wedding pictures. Our guests loved this touch! I also had a gigantic branch structure on the ceiling wrapping in lights, we wanted the lighting to be warm and romantic.”
