Feeling refreshed after another long weekend? There was a little too much rain involved but, a rest did us all good here at The Promise HQ! Today, it’s back to business with a simply amazing wedding from that uber-creative couple, The Lou’s and wedding film from Michael Toman, one of our favourite cinematographers at Story of Eve. This post’s a long one, bursting with bridal inspiration from every pore, so we suggest popping the kettle on before you settle down to view Aine and Dee’s chic wedding with rustic touches at Corick House Hotel & Spa, Clogher.
Aine and Dee met waaay back! All Aine’s nights out in The Elk, Toomebridge paid off when she met Dee through mutual friends, although it did take another two years before they finally would get together, and seven further years until marriage was proposed.
“As it was coming up to our seventh anniversary I thought Dee might have had the ‘seven year itch’ as they call it and propose, but getting closer to the time it was clear he had nothing special planned, at one point I thought he had forgotten! Disappointedly I booked a table in my favourite restaurant for the Tuesday evening of our anniversary. That night we both rushed home from work and just made our seven o’clock reservation. There was nothing romantic or special about the evening so I lost all hope of a proposal. When we arrived home I stopped at my parents house to collect our new puppy Toby we had just got two weeks previous. When I walked into our house Dee was hovering nervously around the sitting room. As I went to set Toby into his bed Dee asked me what was in Toby’s bed and as I was looking he got down on one knee. He said that me being me he knew he wanted to do it in our home as I would have figured it out if it had of been any way out of the ordinary. His proposal was perfect, in our new home and with our new puppy,” explained Aine.
After venturing a little further afield than originally planned to Corick House for dinner one Sunday evening, the couple fell in love with it’s country charm and decided to book it, quickly followed by booking The Lou’s and Story of Eve – their dream photographers and cinematographer! The rest of the planning easily fell into place and with Aine’s mum diligently saving every jam jar, jug and vintage tea set she laid her hands on, a vintage theme wedding with rustic touches developed.
On her wedding day Aine wore Lagara by Pronovias from McElhinney’s Bridal Room in Ballybofey, which was actually the second dress she bought!
“I had rushed too quickly into ordering my first one and from the day it arrived into the shop I knew in the back of my head that it wasn’t the one. The girls at McElhinneys were so helpful and when I tried on Lagara, I knew, for sure, it was the one!” added Aine.
Aine was certain she wanted her bridal flowers to play a big part so booked Janice from The Flower Studio to look after this side of things, whilst Grace of Grace & Saviour was used for her talents and added her perfect touches to the styling. Aine really wanted to be surprised when she walked into her reception room, and she was!
“With Janice’s help, Grace did a fantastic job and everything was just perfect!” said Aine.
“My highlight of the day was walking down the aisle. I had got a bit emotional in the house before leaving but when I saw Dee all my nerves left me. My grandfather and Mum both wrote us beautiful poems which was a beautiful touch and as you can imagine very emotional,” said Aine.
Congratulations Aine and Dee on your stunning wedding day! If you fancy seeing some more of it, look, we’ve got their film preview!
