Afternoon! How grizzly is this weather today? A frosty start and now freezing rain, I am over the winter weather this week! Hurry up Spring you cannot arrive quick enough.
We’re finishing the week with this rather lovely real wedding from Bradley Henderson Photography – it’s full of natural charm and genuine smiles, the most beautiful thing to see from any wedding – and has the best-worst proposal story ever!
Have a great weekend, I’m off to see my eldest perform in the SSE Arena with her school choir – destined for bright lights you see!
Couple: Jess + Chris Huey
Jess and Chris originally met during a church youth group in 2007, and within a few months they both knew they had found someone pretty special.
Proposal: Our engagement story went the way you would imagine if you knew us. Chris took me on a weekend trip to Bournemouth on the 13th June 2015. We did a lot of walking much to my despair. Anyway, we went out for a nice meal on the Saturday night and got back to the hotel at about 8:30pm, Chris wanted to go back out for another walk along the cliff and down to the beach but I was having none of it. He eventually got me out. There was no one on the beach and we walked along the promenade for a while then went down for a paddle. As we walked along the shore he started talking about us which I didn’t realise, as I was picking shells to bring home. He got down on one knee after telling me to stop and listen to him and asked me to marry him. After about 10mins of talking, I looked down at my finger for the first time and it all went downhill from there. I realised that the ring was a wee bit tight and I couldn’t get it off so we went back to the hotel and used water and soap but it wasn’t budging. My finger started to swell a lot and fast, so Chris got me into his car and we rushed to Bournemouth Royal Hospital A&E. We waited for about 20mins then got called into the room, and at this point my finger was dark purple. A lot of female nurses came in to see this and tell me how awful the situation was which helped a lot. (Not Really) because apparently it doesn’t happen all the time like Chris told me. After it seemed everyone in the hospital had a go at getting it off, a doctor came in with a ring cutter at 12.30am and said it will have to be cut off. I cried for a good hour. It is a good story to tell now but was awful at the time. But if you knew us, it is exactly the way you would imagine it going.

Our Planning & Wedding Style: Well as any girl will say that has planned a wedding, is planning a wedding or just has a secret board for when that time comes - “Pinterest was my best friend.” I spent so many hours of my life looking up themes, colour schemes, wedding dresses, bridesmaid dress and ended going with a neutral colour scheme with taupe, pink and gold accents. We set a budget, but if anyone has met that budget or gone under, they need to let me know how that happened, as we blew ours out of the water by no fault of my own. We dedicated a good bit of our budget on food. We both love our food and it seemed like everything else we could go without.
Our Style: My wedding dress was the one thing I said I would search the country for and go into as many shops as possible. It turns out, on the way home one day mum said do I fancy popping into Perfect Day in Lurgan to have a wee browse. We phoned ahead and they had an appointment free. We were early so they said go and look around for a couple of minutes. Within three minutes I had found the dress I was going to wear on my wedding day and refused to pick out anymore. Within 25minutes I had bought my dress much to my bridesmaids disappointment as they wanted to come with me for a few! I had five bridesmaids so I decided to get my dresses off the internet. The website was called Aisle Style and the dresses were amazing quality.
Our Highlights: Obviously I should actually say getting married, but other than that, it was when one of the best men pretended to forget the rings and ran out of church but then came back with my white retriever Lily who was very exited to have the job of ring bearer.
