Today I’m delighted to share Nicola and Dean’s super stylish day at Cabra Castle, photographed by one of my absolute favs, Marc Lawson.
After meeting at university in 2010, Nicola and Dean knew pretty soon things were good and a few years on Dean took Nicola back to the place it all began to pop the question.
“After a night at our favourite restaurant the Harbour Bistro in Portrush, Dean took me to the castle rock cliff top overlooking Magilligan Point the morning after. We used to go there we we started to date, and after taking in the views he got down on one knee and told me he wanted to spend the rest of our lives together,” explained Nicola.
With help from both her mum and Dean’s mum, Nicola began wedding planning focusing firstly on finding the perfect venue. “Cabra Castle was the only place we visited that we fell in love with. After that things just fell into place. We didn’t set a budget as your only get married once!” added Nicola.
The couple chose stylish elements they loved and used a rich colour palette to add drama and class to the overall look. After deciding on a beautiful bateau neckline gown with delicate beaded belt detail, Nicola asked Dean’s mum to make her maids dresses, which each featured a different neckline to suit the girls. Dean wore a navy three piece suit from Red Grooms. Janice from The Flower Studio in Dungannon created the prettiest bouquets and arrangements which included gorgeous warm tones of pink, purple and reds.
“The day was amazing. It was relaxed and filled with fun, my family and friends really made the day special and everyone commented on how relaxed myself and Dean were throughout the whole day,” said Nicola.
Remember what it’s initially all about – it gets to the stage when you are so stressed about how/what guests will think you forget your why your doing it all! Marriage is not just about having a big day, it’s about you and your husband spending the rest of your lives together and that’s far more important than centre pieces!
