Happy hump day! I am ever so quickly remembering how hard it is to fit work in during the summer holidays! The kids just don’t care that mummy has things to do, they have adventures to go on, drinks to be made and precisely 16.5 snacks each to be prepared, daily. Sigh – I’m not complaining, honestly, it’s just taking me some time to adjust to the new working hours.
But back to today and we have the beautiful wedding day of Hilanna and Conal at Lough Erne Resort in Enniskillen to share with you. Their day was photographed by Omagh based wedding photographer, Jude Browne. Planned with special thought being given to the guests enjoyment, it included the most splendid wedding breakfast, a gorgeous three tier cake and a firework display at the end of the evening. If you are thinking of choosing the amazing surroundings of the Lough Erne for your own Big Day the resort are holding a Summer Soiree open evening next Wednesday 1st August. Couple: Hilanna + Conal McCrudden
“We met in a nightclub in Dublin in November 2011. We were both out with friends and ended up meeting and found out we were both from Monaghan. We talked on Facebook a few weeks later and started meeting up after that. Conal went to Kentucky in America to study for 9 months early in the relationship and we had a long distance relationship. When he came home we both realised how much we loved each other.”
“Conal proposed on a walk up Cuilcagh mountains on 22nd April 2017. We made it to the top and were admiring the beautiful scenery. We were standing on the edge of a big rock looking down at the lake when Conal got down on one knee and ask me to marry him. It was a brilliant romantic surprise.”
Wedding date: Saturday 5th May 2018
Ceremony: First Ballybay Presbyterian church, Derryvalley, Ballybay
Reception: Lough Erne Resort, Enniskillen
“We got married 12 months after we got engaged and it was plenty of time to organise our wedding. We knew when we went to the open day at Lough Erne Resort that it was the place for us. We feel in love with it immediately. Next were the big things – the band, the cake and the flowers. I was lucky that my cousin Beulah offered to do our flowers. We found most of our suppliers online and Lough Erne Resort were able to recommend great suppliers too. Conal and I had the same ideas about how our wedding would be which made it easy to plan. We didn’t set a strict budget but we were both money savvy. We were happy to spend a little extra for things we really wanted on our big day. We decided to spend the most on our guests which included the canapés, drinks, food and of course the fireworks.”
“We didn’t really have a theme, we just wanted to keep it quite traditional with a summery feel and very family and friends orientated. Our flowers were absolutely beautiful. My cousin Beulah took on the task and we couldn’t believe how beautiful they turned out. The arch at the front door of the church was homemade and turned out better than expected. The flower colours complemented the girls’ dresses and also the beautiful sunny day we were lucky to have.
I knew I wanted a light pastel type colour for the girls’ dresses. I wanted something quite feminine and not typically bridesmaid. The light grey dresses matched in perfectly with my dress and the flowers fell right into place as well.”
“I went to five shops before I went to The Wedding Gallery in Carrickmacross. I knew the type of style and shape I wanted as I had already tried on different styles in the other shops. I picked out 2 or 3 dresses to try on but fell in love with my dress. It had the fine straps and the beautiful sparkly lace detail. I went back a few days later to make sure but it was the one, I still love it!”
Bride – it’s hard to pick a highlight from the whole day. The speeches, the band and all the dancing!
Groom – the speeches!
“The day flies by, so make time together and also to spend with your family. Do not stress about anything, people love weddings and everyone is there to be part of a great day. Don’t stress about the dress and makeup, once the meal and majority of photos are taken enjoy yourself! I danced the night away in my dress and flats, including Rock-the-boat and Riverdance!”
