Day two of the Week of Love and the turn of Sarah and James’ engagement session by Blackbox Photography– what about that for a breathtaking backdrop! Their story is so sweet and began when they were innocent school kids.
Their love story:
Sarah first saw James through the window of the school bus, she didn’t know his name but admired his curly hair!
As she explained;
“James and I first became aware of each other many years ago when we were both at secondary school. I went to the local all-girls school, whilst James who was two years older than me attended the all-boys school next door. Every morning when I was waiting for my bus, James’ bus drove past me and I noticed him always sitting in the same seat by the window. His curly hair and untidy uniform caught my eye and I quickly became smitten! I waved at him everyday from the safety of the other side of the road and when he waved back with a smile it made my day! We never spoke and I didn’t even know his name when after a few months James left school and moved onto University. I often thought of my mysterious crush and wondered where he had gone and what he was doing. Shortly after I left school and started Queen’s University in 2004, I was in ‘Precious’ nightclub in the Odyssey one Wednesday night when I spotted him across the crowds! We instantly recognised each other and he came over to talk to me and asked me if I remembered waving at him on the school bus! Of course I did! We finally spoke for the first time and I discovered that his name was James and that he too had often thought about me after he left school. We exchanged numbers that night, began dating shortly afterwards and the rest as they say is history!”
The big question:
“James and I booked a night away to Solis Lough Eske Castle in Donegal on 13th October 2012 to celebrate this birthday. As we headed off, James suggested we stop in Enniskillen for some lunch- I was keen to keep on going to the hotel but he was adamant that we should eat something before the journey! During lunch (which he barely touched) he announced that he had several messages to do in town before we could continue on our way, including getting a new phone contract, buying himself a coat and buying his dad a pair of trousers! Little did I know that what he was actually trying to do was get me to walk to a certain spot without arousing my suspicions so that he could put his plan into action! I was starting to lose my patience and kept insisting that we really should get going. After many attempts and lots of complaining from me about all the walking, he finally got me to the place where we first laid eyes on each other all those years ago (yes, at the bus stop!) and got down on one knee. I was in complete shock, it was a busy Saturday afternoon and there was lots of traffic going past – he stayed on his knee until I finally managed to say yes to the hooting of car horns all around us! We eventually made it to Lough Eske many hours later where we celebrated our engagement all weekend.”
The wedding day:
“The wedding is now just over a month away and we are both so excited! The first people I rang when we started planning were Lou and Louie McMaster from Blackbox Photography. I absolutely love their work and follow their blog closely so I knew that I definitely wanted them to capture our day. We decided on a March wedding as we both love springtime and all of the colours associated with it. We had a clear idea of what we wanted our wedding to be like from the very beginning and have been very relaxed in the whole planning process. If we like something then we go for it! We have been very fortunate to work with some incredibly talented people who have really shared our vision for our big day and we can’t wait to see everything come together in a few weeks time! But most importantly I can’t wait to marry my best friend and start the next chapter of our lives together.”
With thanks to Lou and Louie from Blackbox Photography for sharing these images and to Sarah and James for their beautiful story.
