Today we have our final love story in the Week of Love, but what a romantic day it is!
Captured by Omagh photographer, Sarah Fyffe, Shauna and Nicky wanted their wedding to be a celebration of their love and life together after coming through four very difficult years. Together with their loved one and friends the party went on long into the wee small hours at the Redcastle Hotel, Inishowen.
“Nicky and I met at work and had our first kiss on December 7th, 2006. On 26th September 2009 he surprised me with a very early breakfast in bed, which included homemade pancakes, roses and champagne. I was completely surprised and had no idea of his intention to propose, but of course I said yes. After the excitement of the morning he then whisked me off to pick my engagement ring from Paul Sheeran’s Jewellers, Dublin and brought me to Seafield Golf & Spa Hotel for the most romantic overnight break. It was magical and I couldn’t have planned a more perfect proposal if I’d tried,” explained Shauna.
Just six short weeks after their engagement Nicky was severely injured in a hit and run accident and so planning of their wedding was taken at a slow pace with Nicky’s recovery being priority.
“We took the planning in our stride and tailored our day to include all of our loved ones and friends. We wanted it to be a celebration of love and life, considering the four very difficult years we had just come through. We wanted to share our day with the people that had supported us through the tough times,” added Shauna.
On her wedding day Shauna wore an amazing Ian Stuart gown called Cabaret, which she immediately fell in love with the moment she saw, she wore an impressive pair of Jimmy Choos to complete the elegant look. The emotional ceremony took place in Ballinacrea Chapel, Moville with Shauna’s family providing music throughout.
“We had the most amazing day from start to finish, even the sun shone! It was pretty emotional, as for a long time we never thought we’d get to that stage. It was just so special and we were overwhelmed by the immense love and support we received from all our friends and family. The highlight of my day was the ceremony – walking up the aisle with my dad and seeing Nicky waiting for me was unforgettable,” Said Shauna.
Shaunas advice: “Don’t get too wrapped up in the detail, remember why you’re planning a wedding in the first place, it’s about the two of you so don’t let it become an overly stressful experience.”
